Starting a new job is always a mix of nerves and excitement, but at C2events, the warm welcome quickly puts you at ease. From the giddy greeting of the office dogs (belly rubs included!) to the friendly camaraderie of being one of four new starters, settling in feels less daunting when you're all in the same boat, sharing ideas and questions you might not have thought to ask yourself.
After a quick morning cuppa and a chat with colleagues, it's time to dive into the day. Logging on, we check emails and review tasks before a session with the operations team to get an overview of the company. The company handbook proves to be a great resource, packed with everything we need to know.
Time to meet the team! We spend 5 minutes with each team member to get to know each other. This is a great opportunity to say hello, learn names, roles, and get a sense of the friendly, welcoming culture. We really appreciate the time taken by everyone to greet us! Even the directors take time to meet us, sharing the company’s values and vision. Hearing their passion for the work is inspiring and helps us understand not just our own roles but how we contribute to C2events’ overall mission and vision.
Each new starter is assigned a Buddy (for work queries!) and a Bestie (for everything else!) with their support I feel my confidence building.
After lots of chatting and cups of tea, its time to get started on doing some work. We have been provided with an induction programme which helpfully outlines all the training to be completed, and team members have put time in their schedules to walk us through certain tasks. Spending time with colleagues helping with various tasks allows me to put training into practice and understand the event processes better.
For lunch the team have very kindly organised a fuddle. The delicious homemade food fuelled us for the rest of the day, and we had the chance to try some of the team’s baking! This is a nice way to get to know my colleagues and learn about their lives outside of the office.
As we get into the New Year, it is a busy time for C2events, lots of people are preparing to go onsite for events. Helping them with printing and preparing materials builds my understanding of how all of the processes come together. Watching the team prepare for a busy season gives me a taste of the excitement of being onsite for future events.
After a jam-packed day, my brain is tired but I am excited for this new adventure with C2events and look forward to doing it all again tomorrow…
